Rehabilitation :
Canine Rehabilitation CenterPhysical rehabilitation is an emerging discipline in veterinary medicine. Physical therapy has been recommended for human patients for decades to facilitate recovery from musculoskeletal injuries, orthopaedic surgeries, neurological disorders, and for managing chronic pain. Our canine patients suffer from some of the same and very similar conditions, and deserve the benefit of physical rehabilitation to ease their suffering and return to more normal function. PineRidge Pet Care offers evaluations by Amy Bear DVM, CCRP who develops a specific rehabilitation program for each patient. Amy is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) through the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and Department of Physical Therapy. Amy has practiced as a veterinarian in small animal medicine for over 15 years with PineRidge Pet Care (formerly Anoka West Pet Hospital). The goal of physical rehabilitation is returning the patient to normal function and previous level of activity. We incorporate range of motion, therapeutic exercises, functional activities, pain relief and safety of home environment, and emphasize the importance of owner involvement in each step of the pet’s recovery. Our facility has a rehabilitation therapy room and underwater treadmill. Clients are encouraged to attend and participate in rehabilitation sessions. We work with clients to develop comprehensive home therapy programs, as well as offer extended-stay boarding for patients in need of this service. |
