Juvenile Wellcare — The Juvenile Wellness Program is a series of properly timed visits needed to protect the puppy or kitten from a number of infectious agents. Depending upon the age of the first office visit and the juvenile’s history, the wellcare plan is established for each individual. The recommended age for the first juvenile visit is 6 to 8 weeks.
Adult Wellcare — Dogs and cats are considered adults between the ages of 1 and 7 years. During this life stage, most individuals will be relatively free of disease. Their bodies have usually developed fully and their immune systems are normally strong. Maintenance for this period involves twice a year physical examinations along with minimal health screening tests to establish a baseline of normalcy data for each individual. Periodic vaccination boosters are given based on individual risk assessment. Parasite control measures and basic hygiene are important. By the end of this life stage, dogs and cats will be approaching an age comparable to a 50 year old human. 
Senior Wellcare — By 7 years of age, dogs and cats have reached the beginning of their senior years and are comparable in age to a 50 year old person. Like humans, health problems begin to become more prevalent. Health maintenance during this life stage requires more frequent physical examinations, and diagnostic testing. A careful review of the patient’s history may reveal clues to early detection of age-related diseases. Some of the more common diseases to look for include dental disease, arthritis, liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, cancer and an Alzheimer-like behavioral disorder. Vaccinations and parasite control are important, however the recommendations may have to be altered depending on the individuals health risks. Beginning at age 7, we recommend semi-annual examinations and offer additional laboratory screening that is customized according to each individuals age and risk assessment.
